Lynsey's Story
Our dear friend Lynsey was diagnosed at the young age of 23 years with an Oligodendroglioma cancerous brain tumor which is unfortunately in-operable. We are hoping for your help to assist Lynsey in her fight to beat this cancer as the province does not cover any of her chemotherapy costs!!! So we have to raise the funds ourselves. Lynsey’s cost of chemotherapy and other medical expenses, to manage the side effects of treatment and her seizures, are estimated at over $65,000 annually!
Lynsey was recently married and her and her husband Steve (who is in the midst of finishing his last year of school) have had to put their entire plans for the future on hold as they now must focus all their attention on Lynsey's care and her battle with cancer. They have even moved into Lynsey's parent's basement in order to allocate all of their available income to Lynsey's treatment.
Unfortunately the Province of Ontario does not cover the cost of Lynsey’s chemo as her type of chemo is taken orally as opposed to intravenously. Lynsey was featured on Kitchener's CTV News earlier this year telling her story. See the video here: http://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/brain-cancer-treatment-costs-guelph-woman-30-000-per-year-1.1724570
This past week we were dealt some devastating news as Lynsey’s recent diagnosis has seen her tumor grow from a Stage 2 to a Stage 3 tumor, meaning a long year of chemotherapy is now ahead of her. Lynsey must undergo chemo for 28 days of each month for the next 12 months. We are trying desperately to raise funds to help Lynsey with her medical expenses. Lynsey is the light of many people’s lives, always putting others ahead of herself and has a true zest for life. Please help us, help our Lynsey, as she means the world to us!
